Home with no gas, water, how to lower tax

Asked by: 539 views Illinois

We own a place in the country that cant be lived in. No gas, water or electricity is hooked up to the house or garage. We are being charged an outragious property tax. If the assesser had actuslly been there he would have seen that the house isn’t livable. So my question is how do I fight them on this?

Many ways to challenge your taxes. I would invite the assessor to the property, most assessors never visit the property they assess. This would be the first step to get the ball rolling.

Tear down the house that way it is not improved real estate but vacant land. Can save a lot but compare with cost of demo
