   You can always call a realtor and ask for comparables, maybe you are thinking of sellin??

   Both Zillow and eppraisal are great resources. When appealing your assessment, getting the facts straight is key. While your assessor may not have intimate knowledge of your home or even your street, they do know the jargon. Getting the information organized is invaluable.

   If you choose to use a Realtor, be forthright and ask what they charge for a Broker Price Opinion (BPO). This is a micro appraisal that will help your appeal. Also look to residential appraisers in your area as well. The costs of these services need to be offset by expected savings. The more complex the property, the more expensive valuation services will be.

   Or the cheap and true method, go to the registrar of deeds or utilize online resources like zillow and eppraisal, find RECENT recorded sales in your area, get in the car, and take pictures and notes of what you see. But do get your facts straight.
